Unlocking New Perspectives: Online Art Coaching Sessions!

I’ve noticed that building something new often takes longer than anticipated! As John Lennon said (or at least it’s often attributed to him) “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”. This has certainly been true since my last message about new things on horizon! Some good news: something new is close, really close!

During the COVID pandemic, many of us began to use online tools to stay in touch with one another just to stay safe. Since then, meeting online has become so commonplace that it occurred to me that instead of going somewhere on the planet to offer a workshop, or for people to travel to Taos for a workshop, it’s entirely possible to hold art instruction sessions online.

Figuring out all the details of how to do this, and more importantly, what I want to offer in these sessions, has taken more time than anticipated!

Most of my teaching on art and painting has been focused on the fundamental skills of drawing and painting techniques, such as how to mix paints, or prepare a canvas, or set up a palette. While these basics are certainly useful for learning how to draw or paint, there is something underlying all of them that I want to share now in online art coaching sessions: investigating what and how we are seeing by exploring different ways of paying attention to our surroundings.

First, we will explore what your aspirations are and with these in mind, we will work together on helping you learn new practices to see in a way that not only awakens your sense of vision, but also your sense of being alive!

Because these sessions are about looking at the world from a new perspective, they can be of benefit to you whether you are an artist searching for new material or you simply want to re-engage with the world in a way that can bring you joy by seeing.
