Round doorways were one of the unique features of architecture in China that I found both fascinating and beautiful. When I first saw one, I wondered why they don’t exist in the West. Likley, they just aren’t ‘practical’ enough, as most current building design seems to be most efficient when all elements are straight and placed at right angles. It also appears that use of rounded entryways has gone out of favor even in China as I did not see any in modern structures. Whatever the reason for the use of this design shape, I really think it adds something very inviting to the space. For me, the framing of the figure in this painting is an example of this: I just want to know who is coming through that circle! Like the other prints available, I’ve chosen from the most popular originals. Printed on fine art paper, ready for framing.
