White Vision Painting from the You in Me Series

Bookmark and Share

This was the first painting for the show put together by Amy Moon and me. This painting was done in response to Amy’s poem Fire in the Sky:

Fire in the Sky

I saw St Elmo’s Fire.
The sea was the sea of love.

I wanted to dance around it.
Like it was the altar at the top of an endless white slope.
White like white. So white like the belly of a fish.
Transluscent. I wanted to dance.

No one I know has seen St Elmo’s Fire.
That strawberry nest. It glows. It does.

When you’re ready. Ready to be lost at sea. God sends spun gold.

Did sailors see God in it? Like God was there. God was watching.
Because when you’re lost at sea, you want that.

Being lost may be scarier than any other scary.

Are you going to die? Will you cross over to the other side?
River Styx, take me, do you say that?
Take me in your strong current blazing with Hades heat. Red and ready.

No. Not this time.
Because now there’s copper filament.
Tangled. Aflame. Beckoning.
Beaconing the way.

Do you believe?

24 carat fluff. Nothing else anywhere so luminous. I believe.
