Art Sessions: Seeing Again

Recently, I’ve received several requests to get back to teaching art. People have expressed their genuine need to connect with something other than their everyday routine of work and deadlines.

I know that art can be just such an antidote for clearing space in the mind and getting a fresh perspective of the visual world. So, I’ve decided to offer art sessions at my studio beginning in January 2012.

While I’ve led a number of workshops and art classes at the studio in Berkeley, this will be the first time I will concentrate on an aspect of creating artwork that I feel is even more important than the result. In these weekly Saturday sessions, the emphasis will be on the practice of becoming more aware of what we are seeing. During each three hour period, we will explore seeing without naming objects in order to connect with direct visual experience, as well as techniques for expressing that seeing on a two-dimensional surface.

If you have ever wanted to explore drawing or painting, have had a ‘will just do that someday’ thought, or just want to get back to art, please join me at the studio to practice seeing the world anew!
